so what do all animals (unlike many modern humans) have to do before they eat?

the answer of course is move. think about it…

this month we are suggesting that you take the following natural activity to heart and try it for yourself: before every meal do some movement for 5 minutes. it doesn’t have to be garden work. some stretches before breakfast, a few sets of squats before lunch… and we can do the gardening before dinner.

wait, you don’t have a garden? try the crossfit “virtual shoveling” workout.

“virtual shoveling”

  1. attach a 2 liter bottle of water to the end of a broom or stick.
  2. start with the bottle touching the ground to one side of a 1 m high obstacle.
  3. lift the bottle over the obstacle to touch the ground on the other side, return to the start position. this is 1 rep

do 15 reps then 15 squats

10 reps then 10 squats

5 reps then 5 squats

keep your back straight and try to do most of the lifting with the legs.
